Hazel Marshall
Biography
Hazel Marshall studied history at the University of Edinburgh and after graduating worked in a variety of positions, including for the National Trust for Scotland, at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, as Expedition Administrator for Raleigh International in Belize, for BBC Children in Need and in various research and program administration roles for BBC Radio. Hazel has traveled to Canada, Australia and New Zealand and went on expedition in Zimbabwe.
In 2001 she took a postgraduate diploma in Professional Writing at Falmouth College of Arts where she won the Springboard Award given by the J & D Cornwell Trust. She is now a producer for BBC Radio Scotland, which she combines with feature writing for newspapers and, of course, writing for children.
Hazel's first novel, Troublesome Angels and Flying Machines was published in the UK in 2004. She also recently adapted Mary Poppins for R4 in a critically acclaimed dramatization broadcast over Christmas starring Juliet Stevenson, among others.
