Ann Jacobus
Biography
Ann Jacobus was born in Texas, grew up in Arkansas, and has always been a sucker for a good story. From a very early age, she would sob happily, but uncontrollably, watching Mighty Mouse or while listening to Danny Kaye read Thumbelina. Nonetheless, she got a B.A. from Dartmouth College and then worked in advertising in New York and San Francisco. She met her husband before dropping out of Columbia Business School. They now live in Paris with their four children where Ann writes tirelessly and serves on the Board of Advisors for SCBWI France.
She earned an MFA in Writing for Children from Vermont College and also won the Jane Resh Thomas Critical Writing Scholarship. Her middle grade short-story, "In Her Hand," was published in Lines in the Sand: New Writing on War and Peace in the UK and the US. Having always sensed it, she was most gratified to learn recently that, "the universe is made up of stories, not atoms." (Muriel Rukeyser)
